Batista JR - Clarinets

José Batista Jr is a clarinet professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a doctoral student in Performance Studies at the University of Aveiro - Portugal. Master in Interpretive Practices from UFRJ, between 2002 and 2012, he worked as a clarinetist and clarinet player in the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater Symphony Orchestra, in addition to acting as a guest in several orchestras in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. He develops activities linked to chamber music and contemporary music, currently participating in the Abstrai Ensemble - a group dedicated to contemporary music combining the use of traditional instruments with new technologies and in the Trio Paineiras - dedicated to repertoire research and promotion of new works for violin, clarinet and piano in Brazilian music.
