Batista JR - Clarinets

Born in Aracaju-SE, Batista Jr is a doctoral student in Performance Studies at the University of Aveiro-Portugal and, since 2011, has been a professor of music/clarinet at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), on a full-time basis. He has a master's degree in Interpretive Practices and a Bachelor's degree in Music / Clarinet, both from UFRJ. Between 2002 and 2012, he worked as a clarinetist and claronist with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, as well as performing as a guest in several orchestras in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. He develops activities related to chamber music and contemporary music, working in the Abstrai Ensemble, a group dedicated to contemporary music combining the use of traditional instruments with new technologies, CD “Experience”, released in 2018; and Trio Paineiras, a group dedicated to researching the repertoire and promoting new works for violin, clarinet and piano in Brazilian music, CD “Trio Paineiras Interpreta Compositores de Hoje”, released in 2017, both of their research interests are linked to performance , teaching clarinet, 1chamber music, Brazilian music, contemporary music and composer-
performer.
