Rogério Vasconcelos Barbosa graduated in Composition from the UFMG School of Music, in Belo Horizonte. He completed his PhD in Composition at the UFRGS Institute of Arts, in Porto Alegre.  Among its teachers are H. J. Koellreutter, Dante Grela, Oiliam Lana and Antônio Carlos Borges Cunha. He presented compositions at several national and international events, in Belo Horizonte (MG), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Porto Alegre (RS), Rosário (Argentina), Valdivia (Chile) and Aveiro (Portugal). He has been a professor at the UFMG School of Music since 1997, where he dedicates himself to subjects related to composition and analysis. In 2010, he began guiding activities in the Master's in Music (UFMG), where he works in the Analytical and Creative Processes research line.
